Ok. Day 5 of my new venture and all I have to say is that it's SO much harder than I thought it would be. Some things are going well. I've verified my site with Google, I've linked my Facebook page with my LinkedIn page and Twitter sites. But there are some things that just seem so daunting. How on earth can I learn SEO strategies in a week? Now that I have the website up and running, I still can't find it in Google, Yahoo, Bing or anywhere else. I've used all the tools to determine where my site it in the rankings: PageRack, GoogleAnalytics, Google Keyword Tools. I've tweeted and re-tweeted till my fingers are going to fall off. And nothing. So now I'm reading Outsmarting Google by Evan and Bradley Bailyn. I sure hope they can give me some insights into SEO (or search engine optimization for all you lay-techies out there). I also sat in on my first Webinar today. It was actually pretty cool. So cool, in fact, that I signed up for the series. Life has sure changed since I was in school.
So, tomorrow is another day. I will keep plugging along and I WILL conquer my nemesis - SEO. And then I will try my hand at understanding HTML......

Up and Running
So my website is now up and running. I've liked it to twitter, I have a Linkedin account and I've submitted the sites to Google, Yahoo, Bing and all the web directories that I can think of and even some I found online. And the neat thing is that I did it all for free. I've decided to see how far I can go, at first, without investing any money. But now the waiting game begins. I'm sitting on my hands to stop myself from checking and re-checking web traffic (very little) and hoping that the typical week or so it takes for websites to get picked up on the big search engines. Ok. I just checked once more but I swear that's it....Until tomorrow.
And So It Begins....
And so it begins.....My journey into a new business venture. Social Media. After years of Facebooking for fun, I've decided to try and mold my social networking obsessions into a business. We'll see if it works. As I try to perfect the ins and outs of social media marketing, I've decided to blog about my journey. The ups and downs, if you will, of not only starting a new business but starting a new business while documenting the process of learning how to tweet, link, blog and more. So, all you followers in cyberspace, welcome to my blog, welcome to my journey and I hope to make it worth your read.....
